The piece was meant to meld these two styles as seamlessly as possible, while suspending them in the air in a way that does not suggest a mobile or other simplistic floating form. Suspension to Detail is derivative of the Baroque and Gothic architectural movements. The curvature of the filigrees are inspired by the Baroque era, and the archway itself is in the style of Gothic architecture.
